Picasso The Dream

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.”

― Pablo Picasso

Picasso - The Dream

The Dream, 1932

Le Rêve (The Dream) 1932
Painted by Picasso when he was 50 years old, it portrays his 24-year-old mistress Marie-Thérèse Walter.

In 1940 Picasso visited the the 17,000 year-old cave paintings in the Grotte de Lascaux, France’s most famous prehistoric cave paintings. He was so taken with the detail, beauty and sensitive rendering of the paintings, it is said that he declared “We have learned nothing in twelve thousand years.”
